Situated
alongside Blue Anchor station on the West Somerset Railway, this
ex-Great Western Railway carriage harks back to the days of GWR and
early British Rail camping coaches of the
middle of the last century.
The
carriage has been restored from dereliction over the
period 2016-18.

This camping coach is the ideal base to
discover all the sights of West Somerset and Exmoor
including Dunster Castle, Porlock , Minehead, Butlins,
Doniford fossil beach, Lynton/ Lynmouth and all the
sights reached by the ten stations of the West Somerset
Railway.

Being
adjacent to the preserved railway you will be able to
watch the restored steam locos chuffing past, harking
back to the care-free days of the middle of the
last century. Camping coaches then provided simple,
easily reached holiday homes in wonderful locations.
Today's camping coach is still in a wonderful location -
but with a level of comfort not found in British
Railways
ownership. |

"We enjoyed a wonderful
week at the railway carriage. Blue Anchor itself is quiet and
peaceful with lots to explore in the surrounding areas. The
carriage is exceptionally well equipped with lots of extras
supplied such as dressing gowns, heated blankets, hot water
bottles and folding outdoor chairs. It has recently had new
carpets fitted and the shower is now bigger than standard.
Highly recommended!"
